It's been a while

Hey,
It's been a while since I have posted anything.

To summarize:
Work in going good
Mom had surgery
I'm a senior now
blah blah blah

Not a lot has happened, at least nothing life altering.
Today I went to the tanning bed and got a little pink, which is no fun.
Tonight I'm going to truck-tug. Charles cousin tugs, so it's fun to watch him.
I still haven't paid my parking ticket... but I will get to it eventually.
ummm... that's about it really.

:)

Lex jealous of the MINI

My dog loves to play with the water hose. And if I'm trying to wash the car he wont get out of the way of the water hose, and comes close to jumping on the car. So for the safety of the MINI I put Lex on the back porch... well, he wasn't happy. :) But I thought it was funny.

INFOGRAPHICS

this is an infographic i have been playing with (i have no clue why this is underlined). It shows a target I shot at with three different pistols, the bullet weight, and all that jazz. I think it's really pretty. I think I might hang it in my cubical at work. :) maybe not. who knows. but I really like the way its turning out. I might play with it a little more.

new print

so here is a print I'm working with. It's a combination of childhood memories. I really like the bumblebee's wings that are at the bottom. I found a dead bee and didn't think he was using them...

poor Lex

My sisters pom has no respect for my 80 lbs german shepherd dog. It's kinda funny. Lex makes all kinds of funny sounds, complaining for his turn to eat. The other two puppies don't get in his way when it comes to food, but not her...

But Lex is a good dog, and chooses to just gripe about it instead of eating her... so I'm glad he's not crazy... just funny.

New Job

ok... so last Wednesday was my first day at work. I had to fill out about a million forms and wrote my name, address and SS# until my hand went numb. Then I got a tour around the building, was shown all the proper places to exit in the event of a fire or something tragic, and went to this creepy place called "the tunnel" which is for storage, and tornado shelter but is not somewhere I would want to venture to alone.

I also got a 'fob' (key to the building) and my own cubicle with a rolly chair. That's what I'm most excited about I think. I went to wal-mart and purchased some picture frames for my desk. :) So I can show off my family I guess.

But yeah, today will be my second day.

But I better go because I have class in 10 minutes.

:)

I was just really bored... and I've been interested in elephants recently... so here ya go.

Ticket

10:26 AM Posted by Kelsey 0 comments
ok... so first off the parking ticket people are weird. They made my ticket $40 instead of $65, which I'm fine with... BUT they send this booklet with the parking rules.

They circled stuff like I'm stupid, stuff that I already knew and that had nothing to do with myargument. My point was that on the little "where to park" map where you need a pass is in orange.

WELL... they have lots marked in orange that don't belong to the college, and they needed to have places marked where you could park without a pass for commuters who didn't want one. So they are all sarcastic and circle crap that I already knew.

I think I'm going to print out that map and circle all the lots that DON'T belong to the college that are in orange... just to be like "ha, I can circle stuff too... see" but frankly it's not worth the energy and time...

But that's the conclusion of the parking ticket DRAMA....

pretty great

I GOT THE JOB!!!

April 6th I will start my new job as the new production artist for the Council of State Governments. I'm pumped!

She called me today when I was riding a horse and I dropped my phone on concrete and made Ryley get off her horse and get it. :) what a good friend. I was scared it wouldn't work but it was just fine. thank goodness...

So anyways I called her back and she told me I could have the job. I was really shocked because I didn't think I would get it. I thought they would pick some one more qualified and had more experience. But I GOT IT!!!

Ooh, and I still haven't heard anything about that parking ticket... I wish they would tell me what is going on. Ooh well... maybe they will just forget about it and we can all just move on with our lives. :)

Well thanks all for now.

Urban Dictionary

I looked up my name on urban dictionary and found this... apparently I'm awesome... who knew? lol I thought it was kinda funny.

but basically I'm trying to find more interesting stuff to do than philosophy. I mean, who wants to type three pages about the metaphysical views of Aristotle and Plato? not me... but maybe I'm just weird.

:)

More Font...

My dog is Helvetica... bold... :)
I just thought this was kinda cute, I think my sisters pomeranian would be Curlz MT... ( I hate them both...)

JOB!!!

I just got a call a little while ago from the lady from Council of State Governments... I got a job interview next week there to be a production artist part time. WOOOOH FREAKIN HOOOOO!!!

I'm super excited about it. I mean even if I don't get it I will have come a lot closer than I thought I would... ya know. I didn't even think I would get an interview.

But then again maybe no one applied, and I'm their only option... who knows...

I haven't really heard anything else about the parking ticket... maybe when I get back to school they will have made up their minds about it. So we shall see...

Currently I'm excited about the job interview and am a wee bit hungry...

that's all for now :)

just playing with Jacob

Nothing to do, and a parking ticket... boo

I'm sitting in that Art Building with nothing to do. I finished my logo design project and now I feel a slight void in my life. I need to get to work on a project in my printmaking class, but it's hard to get started when I have no idea what I'm going to do...

So that leaves me sitting in the Computer Lab typing this... fun fun fun.

I'm going to post some pictures of my finished logo design soon. I didn't go with the "Granny's Goodies" design, (All though she does need some help, maybe a new name even) I went with an organization on campus. Hopefully my design can be used in real life and I'll finally have some real job experience. So keep your fingers crossed.

OOh I got a parking ticket! I parked at the rec with no sticker, but I honestly thought it was ok. I see cars up there with no stickers all the time. But ooh well... $65 that I don't have to give. So I don't know what to tell them. Not to hold their breath I guess...

So that's what I'm doin... being bored and trying to think about a way to get out of my ticket.

Wish me luck...

Art History...

a picture says a 1000 words... enough said. Mid-term is friday... boo...

oooh font...

I thought this was funny...

Ooh...Granny's Goodies

Our next assignment for my graphic design class is to redo a logo for a local business... I think I might do Granny's Goodies. :) Here's one of my sketches.

I'm not sure what Darrell will say... so I'm kinda nervous about following through with this one... but I think it's funny. So we'll see.

NOTCOT

I posted something on notcot.org and it made it!!! I don't know why I'm so excited, but I am... here is my contribution: a nifty iPhone case... I saw it and wanted it... but it's like $100. So no, this will not be protecting my phone any time soon... :( But I think it's pretty neat.

These are some of the prints I've been working on. I really enjoy making them, honestly I was really worried about this project, but it turned out that it wasn't that bad. They were due today, but we had a snow day... so I guess I'll just turn them in on Wednesday.

These are some prints that I'm starting to work on in Printmaking. I actually like where they are going. Usually I look at my stuff and think it could be better, but with these I kinda feel like I'm going in a good direction. Like in the direction of something I might frame. :) These are just rough acetone transfers of the basic idea I'm working with. But I think they look good too.

They are (the beginnings of) self-portriats. I really like the idea of a self-portrait without my face. It's more work, but I like the end result better.

I need to use a process called paper lithography, which is intimidating, but I think it could possibly add a lot to the image. I've just never used it, so it's kind of worrying me, that I might mess up my whole print. So maybe a little practice first.

The prints are due Monday, five total, so I'll post them when I get done. :)

336 assignment

Our Latest "exercise" was to combine a few past "exercises". First we drew random lines on a graph paper, and then used a sharpie to pick out specific shapes from that drawing. We picked three total and then described them, (personified them...) THEN... in a separate assignment we had to collect colors from specific images, like our clothing, a landscape, a g-college building, and our rooms. So when we had those color swatches we combined the two assignments.

We had to scan the images into the computer, and using the color samples, try to make in interesting image. Again, I'm not very happy with mine, but that's how it goes I guess... but making one image wasn't enough. We had to leave the image the same and use a separate color sample and then cut and weave the two together. So this is mine, it took FOREVER!!! I'm almost happy with the way it turned out :). I think all these small projects are pretty neat, something different.

Stupid Video

Kassondra ( my younger sister) and I... the roller coaster is going backwards... and I look like an idiot. But I think it's kinda funny.

my weekend

4:50 PM Posted by Kelsey 0 comments
All in all it was a pretty low key weekend.

Friday night I went to get my new computer in Louisville, it went relatively smooth thanks to my fabulous iPhone's GPS. I loved going to the apple store. It was great. Everyone there was the perfect level of geeky and cool and they were all so nice. I want to work there. Well... maybe not.

Saturday I didn't really do anything. We went to the Japanese restaurant in town. Turns out I really like it. The little grill guy tried to throw food in my mouth and just hit me in the face. I'm not good with mouth-eye coordination I guess.

And today, Sunday, I went to a craft store and bought frames for some pictures Mom decided she wanted to hang up. Then we got some Logan's and it was tasty. After that Mom got a new cell phone, a touch screen she is trying to learn to use. And then for dinner we had Japanese again.

As of right now I'm watching America's Next Top Model. I really like this show. But I'm not obsessed, I don't know all the girls names or anything like that.

This is getting kind of boring but I'm pretty sure no one is reading this anyways. Well, if you are I guess I'll end your suffering here. Thanks for being a trooper and reading about my weekend I guess. :)

This is a drawing done in adobe illustrator. We were talking about symmetry and I thought I'd be really cool and make a super elaborate design and I was pleased with the way it came out. But them we had to cut the image into one inch squares and rearrange the pieces into a asymmetrical design. Well since my drawing didn't leave any square completely white I had a hard time coming up with something interesting. My end result looks like a mess... but I guess it was a learning experience.

First Assignment

6:57 AM Posted by Kelsey 0 comments

This first assignment was dealing a lot with lines. We had to try to make as many different types and variations of line as we could. Well, the cut off was 20. Then we used tracing paper and put all the lines together. I didn't really like my combined line drawing, but thought that the idea of making a simple line different ways was interesting. It's something I never really put a lot of thought into.

Well... I guess I'll get started

Hi!I thought that I would start a blog to keep track of my work.

Recently I was looking back at some projects that I had worked on and at the time I turned them in I thought they were AMAZING. But looking back I realize they were far from it. It's comical really.

So for future reference for myself and for anyone who might want to see, I figured a blog of every step I take toward completing my art degree would be interesting.

So to start, I just got my first Mac computer. It's a 13in Macbook and I love it. I upgraded it a little so I could run programs faster, and I also bought the student edition Adobe design software to go with it. I've wanted this for so long, and now that I have it I just feel like I can finally take more time to work on my projects and it's awesome to not have to go the computer lab at school to use the software there. Freedom... in a way :)

Later I'm going to post images of some small assignments we have worked on in my "Graphic Design Principles and Techniques" class. :)
